WHAT IS IT?

CommonLit.org is a web-based resource that allows teachers to pair fiction and nonfiction texts with classic, more traditional reading materials. It works to build autonomous learning and improve students' reading comprehension abilities.

SHOULD I USE IT?

Are you an English, Reading, Social Studies, World Language, or Psychology teacher? Do you teach grades 2 through 12? Are you often looking for ways to provide students with supplemental reading assignments that improve their skills? Then, yes you should use CommonLit.org.

IS IT EASY TO USE?

Once you've created your CommonLit.org account and linked students to your class, it's very easy to use. Setting things up for the first time can always be a bit tricky. That's where this site comes into play - to help you get going!

Yes! Believe it or not, all resources provided on CommonLit.org are entirely free of use. You can assign and grade readings and responses right on the site, link work to your Google Classroom, and manage your students all for no money at all!
